Once in a while you get the chance to share fantastic news:
For those of you reading who were aware, Sue Giles of The Poldhu was nominated by colleagues for the National Care Awards, 2009 category; ‘Care activities co-ordinator of the year’.
The nominess from across the UK were interviewed by the judges in London in October. Sue made a second long trip (across The Tamar and beyond) to The London Metropole Hilton for a Gala Dinner last Saturday (29/11/09). To our delight, compere Ruby Wax opened the envelope for Care –activities Coordinator 2009 and, Oscar style, paused before she read out the words “the winner is Sue Giles, The Swallowcourt Group.”
Sue was awarded first prize and received a plaque (which will be on display at The Poldhu) and a wonderful crystal trophy. We are hugely proud of Sue’s achievements, being recognised first amongst her fellow professionals across the UK. Her work is outstanding and the relationships she forges so valuable to our residents. Activities are a vital part of life at all Swallowcourt Care Homes; whether on a one to one basis or on a group basis. Although part of the wider community, The Poldhu is a community in itself.
Sue is the first (rightly) to promote the Award as recognition for her colleagues and teamwork. Across the Swallowcourt Group, everyone in the team performs their role so that we can provide the very best care, for each and every individual.
