Activities & Hobbies
We have two full time Activities Coordinators who work with residents to develop a varied programme of activities and hobbies ranging from exercise classes to art sessions to excursions. Ponsandane also welcomes a regular stream of visitors into the home including community groups and clubs and often hosts events and functions.
Food & Nutrition
Our Head Chef Bev Rangeley and her team provide a varied menu sourced from local ingredients wherever possible. All meals are freshly prepared and cooked with a choice of courses. Bev is a keen advocate for good nutrition and makes every effort to ensure all our residents have a balanced, nutritious, and varied diet.
Our aim is to look after you and your individual care needs to ensure you receive the very best care possible. Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we work with you to develop a comprehensive care plan based on your needs, which is assessed with you, on an ongoing basis.
Ponsandane provides a day care service at the home. The home opens their doors to a maximum of 6 people each day for a small fee, providing them with lunch and activities. Other services such as a bath, shower or hair cut can be provided at an additional cost.
If you are interested in this service then please contact the home for further details.

Care Staff at Ponsandane
We are fortunate at Ponsandane to have a very skilled Registered Manager. Lynda Price has vast knowledge and experience in care. She qualified as a registered nurse in 2005. Having started off as a healthcare assistant in the late 70’s working in elderly care she went on to get a degree in Business Administration and Management with Accounting and Finance in 1997.
“It was during the course of this degree I was introduced to the concept of quality – an area of the course which I was particularly interested in and excited about. I am still excited about quality, and I am enthusiastic and excited by the opportunities I have had in my working roles since qualifying as a nurse to focus on improving quality in healthcare provision. I passionately believe that every person has the right to have access to a safe, consistent quality of service in any healthcare facility in which they might find themselves at whatever age. I joined Swallowcourt in February, 2017 and my aim is to ensure we provide the highest standard of care we possibly can at Ponsandane.”
Lynda leads a great dynamic team of nurses and care professionals. All are dedicated to ensuring that your stay at Ponsandane is comfortable and enjoyable. Our staff are extremely important to us with many have been with us for a number of years.
Every member of the team has undergone full DBS checking and receives extensive and ongoing training. All receive regular supervisions and all are committed to making the home a great place to live and to work.
It was so reassuring to know that I’d left Mum with you, in such capable and friendly hands.Liz
The service was caring. People told us staff were kind to them. Staff spoke about the people they supported with affection. Staff were aware of what was important to people and helped them to achieve this.
