Food & Nutrition
The Poldhu’s Head Chef has worked at the home for over 25 years and has a wealth of experience in understanding the dietary requirements of older people. He and his team work hard to provide nutritious food and a varied menu, sourced from local ingredients wherever possible. All meals are freshly prepared and cooked with a choice of courses.
Our aim is to look after you and your individual care needs to ensure you receive the very best care possible. Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we work with you to develop a comprehensive care plan based on your needs, which is assessed with you on an ongoing basis.
Head Of Care
Care Staff at The Poldhu
Our Head of Care Lynn qualified as a mental health nurse in May 2010 after working as a support worker for a period of time. Since qualifying she has worked in complex elder care services both in the community and in ward settings, where she gained her knowledge of physical nursing. Lynn’s speciality is in dementia care which includes mental capacity, deprivation of liberty and supporting those with behaviours that challenge. Her ethos is upholding people’s rights, dignity and compassion.
Every member of the team at Poldhu has undergone full DBS checking and receives extensive and ongoing training. All receive regular supervisions and all are committed to making the home a great place to live and to work.
We always felt confident about discussing with the staff, matters relating to Mum’s care and as well as considering important issues relating to her health, there was always plenty of humor and good feeling which I know Mum was able to share.
